Jacinta, the pastoral associate of the Parish, came and spoke with the Year Two students about the different groups in the Parish who see a need, fill a need in the local community. As we now move into the action phase of our design and technology inquiry, we are hoping to be able to use what we have learned about the design process to reach out to some of the people these groups help and bring them a sparkle of joy as we enter the season of Advent.
On the 27 of November, we will be holding a skill building workshop open morning so that all students know the necessary basic sewing skills to assist in the production of some hand made gifts. We have put a call out for able and willing grown ups who can give us some time in the morning to teach a small group of students how to thread a needle, tie off thread, complete a basic tacking stitch and perhaps even sew a button. The more helpers, the easy it will be to teach. (We may also need some volunteers who could cut fabric shapes for us… will keep you posted.)
I have invited my mum & dad to give us a hand. We are looking forward to it being a fun and interactive morning 🙂
All donations of materials, thread, buttons, needles etc can be brought into school this week.
