I have also been in London & Budapest. There is so much history to learn about and so many amazing buildings to see. My neck is hurting from looking up all the time 🙂
What have you all been up to? Has my postcard arrived yet? Have you heard from Kobe?
Each morning, our class begins our day with a morning prayer and meditation. I think the students will agree that this is an enjoyable way to begin each day. We are able to relax, reflect and focus on ourselves which allows us to start each day off in a calm and positive way.
The end of Term Three is nearly here. 2MS has been extremely busy this term. Over the past few weeks we have been publishing some Procedure Texts in writing. This week, we began Explanation writing and are in the process of composing a piece on “The Diet Coke and Mentos” experiment that the Year 2’s conducted on Monday. It was a very exciting experiment which resulted in a lot of trial and error but we succeeded in the end. A big thanks to Miss Cardillo and the Year 5’s for coming out and giving us a few extra “TIPS”. In Maths, we have been learning how to tell the time to the hour, half hour, quarter to and quarter past the hour. We are finishing off this week and next week with Chance so look forward to some more fun activities! We even started our third expert rotations for Inquiry! At this stage, we have focused on materials, push and pull and are currently learning about mixing and dissolving. Great work 2MS 🙂
Congratulations to all the Year 2 students who participated in and received the Sacrament of Reconciliation! It was a very special time for the children and their families to celebrate this sacrament together. I am so proud of each and every one of you! You have all worked extremely hard preparing for this special sacrament. I hope you all feel closer to God and will continue to be mindful and aware of the 4 Steps of Reconciliation in your everyday lives.
As part of our Agents of Change unit, 2MS was given a challenge. We began by reading the story, The Three Little Pigs. The challenge was to design a house for the pigs to keep safe from the wolf or design a house that would make the wolf happy. Each group had to work cooperatively to choose from a variety of materials to construct a house that would meet the brief. The children had to communicate with each other and discuss which materials would be most appropriate for their house. In addition, they had to justify their choices using language of properties.
